Do you?...
...have sufficient wind at your property to propel a wind turbine? A turbine that will generate electric power for your home and/or business, reduce your monthly bills, and decrease your dependency on your current utility provider?
If you know you have sufficient wind and would like to proceed with installing a turbine, the next step for you is to contact your local building department and inquire about what is entailed in obtaining a permit for installing a wind turbine (height should be no less than 60 ft). Once you have this information please contact us and we will take it from there.
If you are not certain you have sufficient wind, a wind feasibility study may come handy. You can go ahead and contact us regarding our special program for an on-location wind feasibility study called GotWind?™ The program is part of a basket of sustainable energy solutions offered by our company Green Energy Act™.

About the GotWind?™ program:
- Green Energy Act™ will install at your location an approved Anemometer (a wind speed measuring device), which will collect data over several months.
- Once the study is completed, we will do an analysis, that includes not only your site’s feasibility, but also whether a wind solution will be a worthy investment for you and if so, which wind solution is most appropriate.
- The study is not free but is not expensive either. We charge a nominal refundable deposit fee (typically $300) for the equipment we setup at your property – and pay it back to you when we collect the equipment at the end of the study. There is also a small onetime setup fee which includes not only the labor and materials included in the study, but also the analysis. This fee can be credited back to you in the event you will do additional work going forward with Green Energy Act™.
Now for some frequently asked questions:
Q: “Okay, this sounds great, but I noticed you didn’t include the actual study’s cost. So how much this pleasure is going to cost me?”
A: The two costs are the deposit fee mentioned above, which is refundable once we collect the equipment at the end of the study, and a setup fee. Setup fee changes according to location but on average is about $375 all included. As mentioned, we will credit you this fee back against future work (valued at $5000 or more) you will be doing with Green Energy Act™ within 12 months after the study is completed and our recommendations are delivered to you.
Q: “Say I have a good location for wind. How much would installing a wind turbine cost?”
A: It really depends on quite a few factors, mainly the size of the turbine installed. Turbines come in all shapes and sizes e.g. smaller ones are 1KW and 3KW, mid size residential is 5KW, and large size residential is 10KW. We also have semi-utility size turbines and even larger ones. Prices ranges dramatically with smaller turbines at as low as $10,000 (and possibly even less) and large residential ones at $40,000 and more. As prices and incentives changes often, we will cover the up to date information together with our study’s results including incentives you can qualify for.
Q: “I heard there’s quite a few additional incentives these days.”
A: You heard right. The new American Recovery and Re-investment Act of 2009 signed recently into law tremendously improves upon the 2008 bill by increasing tax credits and removing “cost caps.” The long awaited change allows you to take a 30 percent tax credit off the installed cost of various renewable energy measures including but not limited to wind. We will help you with all this once you become a client.
Q: “I love it. What do I do next?”
A: Its real easy. Just fill out the following form and/or call us at 646-330-5270. Filling in the form below will expedite by much your inquiry. But before you fill the form there is one small bit of homework you’ll need to do – call your town’s building inspector office or whatever office in the town in charge of zoning and permits, and ask them if there are any local restrictions on installing a small wind turbine. If restrictions exist just let us know what they are in the form below. Do not be discouraged – we will still try to get a variant and also, many towns are now revising their zoning and rules to be more accommodating towards sustainable energy, so by the time the study is completed is very much possible we will be able to install the turbine even if the initial response from the town is negative. Please also list your town’s building dept number and whom you spoke with. Being that we worth thoughout the North East and have many inquiries its something we need you to do on your own. |
